The Air Force F-15E is a dual-role fighter-bomber designed for air-to-air combat and air-to-ground strikes. The first F-15 models were produced in April 1988 and have since evolved into the F-15E Strike Eagle, which features a two-seat cockpit that accommodates both a pilot and a weapon systems officer.
The F-15E Strike Eagle has a wingspan of 42.8 feet and weighs 37,500 pounds. The Strike Eagle can reach speeds of up to 1,875 mph. In terms of missile capacity, the F-15E can carry up to four AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and four AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, or a total of eight AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
U.S. forces rescued one of the crew members of the downed American fighter jet in Iran on Friday. Early Sunday morning, President Donald Trump announced the second crew member had been located and extracted from Iran in what he called “one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History.” Trump later said the military member had been seriously wounded.
