Conservation nonprofit Texan by Nature (TxN) has announced 23 honorees of the seventh annual Texan by Nature 20 (TxN 20), an official recognition of companies with Texas operations that have made a measurable commitment to conservation.

Former First Lady Laura Bush, founder of Texan by Nature and a Dallas resident, praised this year’s honorees for their leadership.

“Congratulations to this year’s TxN 20! Your leadership demonstrates what is possible when organizations engage in conservation. You have set the gold standard for conservation in Texas, inspiring others to bring nature into the places we live, work, and play. Thank you for creating a healthier, more sustainable future for our state,” Bush said.

Austin-based Texan by Nature said the TxN 20 recognizes the “best and most innovative work” in conservation coming from businesses based in or operating in Texas. Many of the companies have ties to North Texas.

“We believe business can be a force for nature through action, collaboration, and innovative models in conservation,” Texan by Nature CEO and President Joni Carswell said in a statement. “It’s an honor to recognize these best-in-class examples that demonstrate how integrating business with conservation strengthens Texas and sets the standard for the globe.”

The TxN 20 recognizes companies across 12 industries whose innovation and environmental leadership are driving measurable results. With 171 million acres of land and global leadership across multiple sectors, Texas offers fertile ground for partnerships that connect industry with conservation, the nonprofit said.

Beyond the annual honors, Texan by Nature said the annual list serves as a catalog of best practices and metrics that other businesses can use to build conservation into their operations. The nonprofit works with the Texas business community to advance projects that combine economic growth with environmental stewardship.

The 2025 TxN 20 is catalyzed by Jetco Delivery, whose president, Kyle Kristynik, said the company’s investment aims to help spark further collaboration.

“With our investment in the TxN 20, we hope to amplify cross-industry innovation and action that will inspire and propel businesses toward a sustainable future,” Kristynik said.

How the honorees were selected

Company data submissions were evaluated alongside independent research of more than 2,000 publicly traded and private companies across Texas, Texan by Nature said.

Each organization was assessed using a 17-point scoring system covering 12 industry sectors. Evaluation criteria included stated conservation commitments; measurable environmental metrics; investments in conservation; return on conservation outcomes; and positive impacts on land, water, wildlife, people, waste, and energy.

Other factors included companywide activities such as infrastructure, production, and supply chain management, and employee engagement.

A selection committee of industry leaders reviewed the top 60 finalists to determine the 23 honorees. The process and recognition are supported by HOLT CAT, the nonprofit said.

Texan by Nature describes itself as a catalyst for thought leadership, innovative partnerships, and community-led conservation solutions, helping align Texas industries with practices that sustain both economic growth and the natural environment.
