“I Now Pronounce You Man & Wife, Sponsored by Sonic”
Picture it: a sunny Saturday at Spirit Ranch, “Here Comes the Bride” playing — and right as she walks down the aisle, a voice booms over the speakers: “This ceremony brought to you by United Supermarkets!”

It sounds wild, but a new survey says 61% of Americans would actually consider a brand-sponsored wedding if it helped cover the costs. Think about it — if a company covered half (or more) of a $30,000 wedding, a few logos might not sound so bad after all!
Here in Lubbock, where weddings can range from rustic-chic to full-on pomp and circumstance, you have to wonder: would we be cool with a wedding sponsored by Gene Messer Ford, Whataburger, or even Blue Bell?
The Price of “I Do”
According to Talker Research, only about a third of people said they’d flat-out refuse a corporate wedding, no matter the offer. But the rest are open to the idea — and some of the possibilities are hilarious.

More than half said they’d allow branded cocktails, signage, or product samples at the reception. One-third said they’d be fine with the brand’s mascot showing up (imagine Sticky Cactus from Tejas Motors tossing fries during the first dance).
A brave 20% would even let a brand rep officiate the ceremony. (“By the power vested in me by the State of Texas and Taco Villa…”) And 17% said they’d slap the company logo right on the wedding dress!
How It Would Look in Lubbock
In a city where loyalty to local spots runs deep, the idea might actually fly — if the sponsors were hometown favorites. An Orlando’s-themed reception? A Llano Estacado champagne toast?

Of course, not everyone would go for it. Some folks might prefer to keep their special day sponsor-free. But others might say, “Hey, if Evie Mae’s wants to cater and cover the bill, let’s fire up the pit!”

And let’s be honest — Lubbock weddings already have their fair share of personality. From cowboy boots to backyard barn parties, we’ve seen it all. So maybe, just maybe, a little branding wouldn’t be the craziest thing to hit the Hub City wedding scene.
After all, love might be priceless — but if it came with free kolaches and a gift card, Lubbock might just say, “I do.”
