EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 30-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 East on Sunday night, according to the El Paso Police Department.

Police said the Special Traffic Investigation Unit responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the I-10 East downtown exit on Sunday at 7:57 p.m.

According to EPPD, a preliminary investigation found the woman was traveling from north to south on I-10 when the 81-year-old driver of a Kia Soul traveling on the interstate struck her.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police said a contributing factor in the crash was the pedestrian being on the highway.

The death marks El Paso’s 14th traffic fatality of 2026.

EPPD said the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
