Texas veterans, military members and their spouses are being encouraged to attend a series of free job fairs next month as part of the statewide Hiring Red, White & You! initiative.
Governor Greg Abbott invited eligible Texans to take part in the hiring events happening across the state from November 4 through November 20.
“The talent of our brave veterans who answered the call to serve our nation is a large part of the Texas economic engine,” Abbott said. “The skills and mission-driven mindset of our veterans brings a competitive advantage to any business in our state. This November, I urge all Texas veterans and military families to attend a Hiring Red, White & You! event.”
In Arlington, some of the employers expected to participate include BNSF Railway, the cities of Arlington and Fort Worth, Cook Children’s Health Care System and Lockheed Martin.
Since its launch in 2012, Hiring Red, White & You! has helped connect more than 26,000 employers with 153,000 job seekers, including 52,500 veterans. The events have resulted in over 4,300 same-day hires.
Employers can take part at no cost and may be eligible for up to $9,600 in federal tax benefits through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
