It’s official, luxury retailer, Nordstrom, will be opening a Nordstrom Rack store in deep South Texas as soon as this fall.
“We look forward to being a part of the McAllen community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices,” Nordstrom Rack President Gemma Lioncello said. “We’re excited to grow our footprint in the McAllen market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience.”
The store will be located between a Target and HomeGoods store in the Las Tiendas Shopping Center, a bustling retail plaza that fronts the Interstate 2 corridor (also called Expressway 83) in south McAllen. The 30,561-square-foot space has previously been home to a number of furniture stores, including a Sears Outlet store, an American Freight: Appliance – Furniture – Mattress store, and an Overstock Furniture & Mattress that recently went out of business.
Las Tiendas is owned by an El Paso-based company, Cielo Paso Las Tiendas, and is operated by an El Paso-based commercial real estate management company called MIMCO LLC.
“Ownership is thrilled to welcome Nordstrom Rack to the tenant roster at Las Tiendas,” MIMCO President Scott Walker said. “McAllen is a dynamic and growing retail market, and the addition of Nordstrom Rack further establishes Las Tiendas as a leading shopping destination along Expressway 83.”
The McAllen Nordstrom Rack will allow Valley customers to access the luxury retailer’s iconic “on-trend apparel,” accessories, shoes, beauty products and home decor for up to 70% off retail price. But shoppers will also be able to pick up online orders placed at Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com and return online purchases at the McAllen store, company officials said. The McAllen store will be the company’s 28th Nordstrom Rack location in Texas. The company also operates seven Nordstrom stores and employs 3,600 people across the Lone Star State.
