The Princeton Independent School District is accepting student applications until April 15 for paid summer internships with local employers.

“We are excited to set students up with the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience throughout the summer and build relationships with local businesses throughout the community,” said Brett Hackman, director of PISD’s Career and Technical Education Program, who is coordinating the program for the district.

Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. said the Princeton Community Development Corporation (PCDC) allocated $50,000 in sales tax revenue to fund the Mayor’s Apprenticeship Program in cooperation with the school district and the Princeton-Lowry Crossing Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Foundation.

“This isn’t just about summer work, this is about building leaders, strengthening our local economy, and giving our kids a reason to invest their future right here at home,” Escobar said.
