Franklin Dwain Cox, beloved husband, dedicated law enforcement officer, and longtime member of the Lubbock community, passed away on March 31, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on August 16, 1937, in Moran, Texas.
Franklin served with distinction as a Special Texas Ranger with the Texas Department of Public Safety, working closely with the Secret Service in support of three United States Presidents. He was known for his integrity, compassion, and lifelong commitment to serving others.
Outside of his career, Franklin was an avid animal lover and skilled marksman who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and promoting safety. He was a Master Mason at Constantine Masonic Lodge #13 in Bonham, Texas, and a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, dedicating nearly 60 years to supporting the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospitals of Texas. He also volunteered with the Red Cross, always ready to help those in need.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Timmons; his children, Robin Torphy (Luke Torphy), Lane Timmons (Tamara Timmons),Stephanie Laughlin (Lloyd LaBombard); and three grandchildren.
A private inurnment will take place in Seminole, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial donations be made to the local ASPCA (South Plains SPCA) or the Haven Animal Care Shelter.
He will be deeply missed and remembered for his kindness, service, and compassion.
