These came out in 2006 — or at least that’s when I got ’em. Here’s what I said about them back then (with some minor editing):

Three more instalments in the splendid Austin City Limits music series — and three more winners.

From 1980: A swampy 62-minute set from good ole boy Tony Joe White, who leads a trio through born-on-the-bayou classics like Polk Salad Annie and Rainy Night In Georgia. From 1985: A honky-tonkin’ 46-minute show from Bakersfield legend Merle Haggard and his 10-piece band of Strangers, with a set list that includes Mama Tried, Take Me Back To Tulsa and Silver Wings. From 1989: A gritty 56-minute performance by country outlaw Waylon Jennings, aided by a crack sextet, his ex-wife Jessi Colter and classics like Amanda, Good Hearted Woman and Luckenbach, Texas. As always, each set comes with a ton of unaired footage. As always, you can’t go wrong with any of them.
