SAPD: No injuries after armed standoff with first responders on the Southwest Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An investigation is underway after an armed standoff with first responders Tuesday night.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, a call was made around 11:30 p.m. by a man who needed help at a residence on Kelsey Avenue. Investigators say when officers arrived the man was uncooperative.

Not long after, firefighters say the same man started firing a shotgun toward their station, and another call was made to 9-1-1.

Investigators say the man ran to a nearby lot and hopped a fence before hiding behind some bushes.

A short standoff followed, but the man soon surrendered with no more shots fired. Police say a shotgun was recovered.

No injuries were reported, yet the investigation continues.
