HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — This weekend, the streets of Houston will roll with creativity as the 39th annual Art Car Parade returns.

Leading the parade as Grand Marshals are Dynamo legend Brian Ching and Kam Franklin, the lead singer of Houston band The Suffers.

“To be part of this parade.. Really, the words excitement and grateful are the ones that come to mind,” Franklin shared with us.

Ching told us, “The Art Car Parade is always something I have always seen and went to, but I never really got the full history until this time around. Definitely a lot more impressed and excited to be the Grand Marshal this year.”

In addition to serving as Grand Marshals, both Franklin and Ching are celebrating career milestones this year.

Franklin collaborated on the album A Tribute to the King of Zydeco. This album won the Grammy for Best Regional Root Music Album in February.

The following month, Ching was recognized for his impact and was inducted into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
