LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A former assistant band director from Shallowater was federally indicted today on sexual charges.

Joseph Gonzalez is now federally indicted for the continuous sexual abuse of multiple children.
Court documents obtained by KCBD show law enforcement uncovered sexual messages between Gonzalez and several of his students dating back to 2023. The students told police he would pressure them into sex at their homes, his house and on school campus.
The Shallowater School District suspended Gonzalez in February when the students reported him.
He is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
