AUSTIN, Texas — The Central Texas Food Bank has announced that due to the government shutdown, the USDA will not distribute SNAP benefits on Nov. 1. However, individuals with remaining funds on their Lone Star Card from previous months can continue using them in November. WIC benefits will proceed as usual.
In response to the halt in SNAP benefits, the food bank said it’s increasing its food distributions to assist those affected.
“You do not need to show proof that you receive SNAP benefits — just come if you need food,” the organization stated.
