COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Luke Rollins, a junior mechanical engineering major and son of U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, has been named Head Yell Leader at Texas A&M University for the 2026-27 academic year, according to the university.

Rollins will lead four other Yell Leaders as the university’s official spirit ambassadors, representing Texas A&M at athletic events, campus functions and Aggie Mothers’ Club appearances across Texas and the United States.

Yell Leaders are elected by the student body each March. The Head Yell Leader is then selected through a separate application process that includes a résumé review, an essay and an interview panel that includes the previous Head Yell Leader, according to Texas A&M.

Rollins comes from a long line of Aggies: his great-grandfathers, Andrew P. Rollins Sr., Class of 1906; Andrew P. Rollins Jr., Class of 1921; and William Hubert Rollins, Class of 1925; his grandfather, Albery Rollins, Class of 1951; and his father, Mark Rollins, Class of 1994, all earned engineering degrees from the university. Mark Rollins also served as head yell leader during the 1993-94 academic year.

His mother, Brooke Rollins, Class of 1994, was the first female student body president in Texas A&M history and currently serves as the United States Secretary of Agriculture.

Rollins is a member of Squadron 17 in the Corps of Cadets, where he serves as a platoon leader and public relations sergeant. He has also participated in the Traditions Council, the MSC Abbott Family Leadership Conference and Fish Aides.

Rollins said strengthening Aggie traditions will be a top priority in his new role.

“What makes this university so special is how much we love one another because we’re Aggies,” Rollins said. “I think that starts with being involved on campus and really learning the importance of the Aggie family and learning how our traditions solidify that across generations of Aggies.”
