Ganado is on a 16-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Calallen is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will host the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Calallen’s hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Ganado hadn’t allowed a single run the last six times they’ve hit the field. The Indians’ pitcher stepped up to hand Weimar a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Not much got past Saylor Bures, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Weimar off the board. Bures has been consistent for a while: she hasn’t given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kalyn Benavides was incredible, firing off four home runs and eight RBI while going 4-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Laci Holt was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Ganado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .523. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Calallen got the win against Robstown on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1.

Addison Juarez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Juarez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Cody Forbes was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kiana Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Calallen’s victory bumped their record up to 21-8-2. As for Ganado, their win bumped their record up to 23-2-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ganado hasn’t had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it’s not like Calallen struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging an even more impressive 1.8 home runs.
