EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — If you’ve been thinking your home could use a little extra pep and maybe a few “zooms”, the El Paso Humane Society has a pup who’s ready to charm her way into your routine.
Hershey is currently the second-longest resident at the El Paso Humane Society and is still up for adoption. Another long-term resident, Creed, is also still available for adoption.
Hershey is a sister to Brownie, a dog previously featured at the shelter. Hershey is also the last of her litter still waiting for a home. AJ said five puppies originally came in, and Hershey is “the last of her litter.”
AJ described Hershey as shy at first, but said she opens up with time.
“She opens up over time and then she becomes really playful,” AJ said. “She loves flinging them around and she’s got the funniest zooms.”

AJ said Hershey also does well with other dogs, having grown up with five siblings. AJ said Hershey came to the shelter at “10 or 11 months old,” and spent her first birthday there with her siblings. Since then, AJ said, the other dogs have found homes — and now it’s Hershey’s turn.
As for what kind of dog she is, AJ said Hershey is a Kelpie mix. AJ described the breed as a small herding breed that’s “super, super intelligent,” and said they’re “kind of similar to a cattle dog.”
Because she’s a herding breed, AJ said Hershey can be high-energy and likes mental challenges.

“They love working their brains,” AJ said, adding that Hershey enjoys puzzle toys — especially ones she can tear apart. AJ also shared one of Hershey’s favorite simple enrichment activities: “Like we literally take a paper bag and wrap treats in it and give it to her and she loves it so much.”
Hershey remains available for adoption at the El Paso Humane Society.
