Adams County Sheriff Joshua Fitting stated that Carr, 48, had left Gettysburg and was located in Anderson County, Texas.
GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Former Gettysburg mayor Chad Carr, 48, was apprehended in Anderson County, Texas after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Adams County Sheriff Joshua Fitting.
On Wednesday afternoon, Fitting said an arrest warrant was issued for Carr. Fitting said he advised his Warrant Apprehension Unit to attempt to locate Carr, but through their work, found that Carr left Gettysburg and was located in Anderson County, Texas.
Fitting stated that Carr’s arrest was coordinated with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, who successfully took Carr into custody.Â
“I want to commend our Warrant Apprehension Unit and extend my sincere thanks to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office for their swift cooperation and professionalism in bringing this matter to a safe and successful conclusion,” Fitting stated on Facebook.
Anderson County is located southeast of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.Â
It was also announced Wednesday that Carr faces additional charges after three more victims came forward with sexual assault and abuse allegations.
Carr was charged Wednesday with two second-degree felony counts of sexual assault, a second-degree felony count of photographing, filming or depicting child sex acts on a computer and two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors, according to State Police. These new charges are similar to the allegations Carr received last month.
The other victims contacted police after Adams County District Attorney Brian Sinnett held a press conference on March 13 announcing Carr’s first arrest on charges of sexual abuse of children, criminal solicitation and corruption of minors.
Carr resigned as Gettysburg mayor March 4, only about two months after he was sworn in. Alison Lintal was appointed by the Gettysburg Borough Council to replace him on March 23.
