A Dallas senior at Emmett J. Conrad High School is celebrating something good.
Cadet Jordan Pham was honored recently by receiving the prestigious National Navy ROTC Scholarship worth up to $200,000. The award will cover full tuition to the University of Texas at Austin as he prepares to become a commissioned U.S. Navy officer. He was recognized during a formal ceremony with the Conrad Charger Battalion.
Jordan ranks number six in his class. He isn’t just graduating in May with a high school diploma, but his dual enrollment means he will also graduate with an associate degree as well. He is also an Academic All-State student-athlete and leader in the school’s JROTC program.
For his mentor, Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Leon Johnson, this award validates the “whole student” approach of the Charger Battalion.
“Watching Jordan grow over the last four years into the leader he is today has been a profound honor,” said CSM Leon Johnson. “At Conrad, we strive for excellence in everything we do. Jordan’s ability to rank in the top 10 of his class and earn a collegiate degree while leading our JROTC program is exactly why he was selected for this esteemed honor. It’s a proud day for the Charger Battalion and the entire Conrad community.”
Pham said the scholarship will help prepare him not just for his academic future, but also for a future as a commissioned Officer in the United States Navy.
