TITAS/Dance Unbound’s annual Command Performance and Gala used to be filled with classical ballet solos and duets. But the program has been evolving for years.
The 2026 edition is down to a pair of pas de deux warhorses: the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet and “Black Swan” from Swan Lake, to be performed by San Francisco Ballet principal dancer Sasha De Sola and guest artist Alban Lendorf.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Melbourne-based Australian aerial troupe SWAY, which is sending performers Angelica Cassimiro and Daniel Lupo for the TITAS commissioned Discotheque and SWAY DJ Live.
Also scheduled are dancers from a trio of modern groups in pieces from their companies’ repertoire: MOMIX’s Jason Williams (Table Talk) and Anthony Bocconi (Last Leaf Catches the First Snowfall), Bodytraffic’s Joan Rodriguez and Katie García (At Last, Flyland) and Complexions Contemporary Ballet’s Joe González, Vincenzo Di Primo and Jillian Davis (Deeply) and April Watson with González (Ave Maria).
Rounding out the program is Michael Jackson Jr., formerly of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in Robert Battle’s In/Side and Ailey’s Reflections in D.
April 18 gala dinner at 6 p.m, performance at 8 p.m. and after-party at 10 p.m. at Winspear Opera House. Tickets, details at attpac.org and titas.org.
