Manning is in concussion protocol, according to Sarkisian.
“We’ll have more information as the week goes on,” Sarkisian said.
Sarkisian did not answer a question about whether the Longhorns had a point in mind where they’d be forced to move onto Plan B if Manning wasn’t ready.
“That’s for the doctors,” he said.
Manning left the Longhorns’ victory over Mississippi State in overtime and did not return. He dove forward on a quarterback scramble and took a forceful hit to the back of his head. That was one of several hits Manning took in the game. Sarkisian called him a “warrior” for his performance in the win, which included a career-high 346 passing yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for an additional touchdown.
Manning was replaced by Matthew Caldwell, who threw a game-winning touchdown in overtime to Emmett Mosley V. Caldwell, who has played for Jacksonville State, Gardner Webb and Troy, is a senior who practiced “great” Monday morning, according to Sarkisian.
