TEXAS — New health resources for veterans are coming to cities across Texas.

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced it was setting aside $5 billion for upgrades to existing VA facilities and plans to open new ones.

The proposed federal budget for 2027 includes $30 million for a new VA hospital in San Antonio, something veterans have long requested.

The department said so far this year, 100,000 veterans have enrolled in VA benefits for the first time. It credits that number to the improvements the department has been making to its facilities.
