HOUSTON – A shooting investigation is underway after a violent incident unfolded at a busy intersection in southwest Houston Thursday morning.
According to Houston police, the call initially came in around 9:40 a.m. as an assault but was later updated to a crash.
The scene is centered near the intersection of W. Fuqua Street and S. Sam Houston Parkway.
Investigators say a fight broke out at the intersection, and during the altercation, one person was shot.
Authorities have shut down multiple lanes in the area as officers work to piece together exactly what led up to the shooting. Traffic is expected to be impacted throughout the investigation.
Details about the victim’s condition have not yet been released.
Police have not said whether anyone involved is in custody.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as the scene remains active.
