A vacant corner space on East Mockingbird Lane in Dallas, just east of Central Expressway, will become a Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Neighbors in the M Streets and Lakewood areas had been asking about the construction on the space at 5456 E. Mockingbird Lane, a former BurgerFi restaurant.
Construction at the coming-soon Chipotle adds to a congested sector of East Dallas. Roadwork on Mockingbird near the Highland hotel has led to backed-up traffic, while excavators on the north side, near Mockingbird Station and the DART station, are making way for a seven-story residential building from Trammell Crow Company. That building is expected to have about 400 multifamily apartments.
The coming-soon Chipotle, which will be neighbors with Jason’s Deli and Contemporary Ballet Dallas, is expected to open in summer 2026.Â
It’s one of more than 20 Chipotles in the Dallas area. Nearby, the brand already has restaurants on Central Expressway, north of Lovers Lane; on West Northwest Highway near Abrams Road; in Lakewood on Abrams Road; and in Old East Dallas on Gaston Avenue.
Chipotle is a fast-casual restaurant that sells burritos, rice bowls, salads and quesadillas. In late 2025, it added a high-protein section to the menu with options for high-fiber and low-carb dishes — two buzzwords in food right now.
Chipotle is expected to open at 5456 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, in summer 2026.
