Police, bystanders lift flipped car to free trapped baby after crash

  • October 28, 2025

FORT WORTH, Texas (TMX) – An infant is expected to recover after being pinned under an overturned vehicle in Texas and receiving CPR from a responding officer, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department said two officers responded to a reported collision on Interstate 30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane on the morning of Oct. 23.

The driver and her infant child were ejected, and the baby trapped underneath the overturned vehicle was found “unresponsive.”

A video shared by the police department shows Sgt. R. Nichols and Officer E. Bounds lifting the vehicle to free the unconscious baby with assistance from nearby witnesses.

Nichols immediately started performing CPR while awaiting emergency medical services.

Police said both the woman and the baby are expected to make a full recovery.

“We are beyond proud of the life saving actions performed by Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their bravery and quick response to this terrible scene,” the police department said. “We are also grateful to the Fort Worth citizens who saw someone in danger and, without hesitation, assisted our officers.”
