A San Antonio comedian and television personality recently had a health scare that began what is a days-long health battle that included multiple procedures.

Cleto Rodriguez, the comedian best known for his television segment- turned-web series “Where’s Cleto?” said in a post on Facebook on April 1 that he was admitted to the hospital. A day later, someone on behalf of Rodriguez provided an update as to what happened.

“Cleto had a port put in for dialysis. His first dialysis treatment is scheduled for tomorrow (April 3),” the post said. “He’ll have treatment for the next three days. Thank you all for your continued prayers.”

As well wishes flooded his page, he provided another update on April 4. “God is so good!! Turns out, I had to come in for emergency dialysis. I found out last week that I was at stage five kidney disease and I needed dialysis. Since then, I’ve been feeling lightheaded and dizzy. By Wednesday, I couldn’t take it anymore,” Rodriguez wrote. “I had to come to the hospital. I appreciate everybody praying for me. Please keep those prayers coming because this is the start of a new journey for me. I really appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you so much. I’ll keep you updated. God bless each and every one of you. Ready for day two of dialysis!”

Rodriguez added that on Monday April 6, he would be prepped for a heart procedure to “remove a blockage.” Following the procedure, a GoFundMe was created and shared to his page, along with an update of another dialysis session.

“Many of us know that our dear Brother Cleto Rodriguez has undergone some extensive medical treatments this last week. From a port being placed STAT to emergency dialysis three days in a row to two stents (April 6),” the GoFundMe reads. “It has been nothing short but the Glory of God prevailing. Cleto is the sole provider for his family we know that this can put a toll on anyone going through this but stress is an added cause that we would like for them to not have to worry about for a while. His wife Lynette and the kids have been by his side everyday […] They need our help so Cleto can recover in peace as well as allowing Lynette to be there to assist him as this is an all hands on deck situation. However long that may be.”

As of April 9, the GoFundMe has raised $1,425 of the $1,800 goal. “We greatly appreciate you and Thank You in advance for your willingness to give as he has given so much of himself to others through his comedy and other charitable events,” the GoFundMe reads. “If you can not give in this time please continue to pray and intercede for them. As he heals. Amen.”
