If you are lucky enough to win the lottery, we can understand taking time to get your finances in order avoiding major suspicious purchases, but this is pushing it a bit. The Texas Lottery is once again urging the winner of a Lotto Texas jackpot worth $78 million to step forward and claim the prize that has been sitting around since November 2025.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Gordon’s Bait & Tackle at 7066 Padre Island Hwy., Brownsville, TX 78521 on November 15, 2025, matching all six numbers (7-17-23-28-39-48) to secure the $78 million jackpot. The winner selected the cash value option at time of purchase, meaning they are set to receive $43,757,223.10 before taxes when the ticket is claimed. However, the Texas Lottery has heard nothing but crickets since the November drawing.
The Texas Lottery issued a news release on Thursday, April 9, revealing that the winner has yet to come forward and claim the ticket, reminding them that the jackpot will expire if the winning ticket is not validated by May 14. Any Texas Lottery winner automatically forfeits any prizes if they are not claimed by the 180th day after the draw.
“To claim the prize, the ticket holder must call the Texas Lottery to make an appointment for processing and then present the ticket in person for validation at Texas Lottery headquarters, located at 1801 Congress Ave., in Austin, by 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 14,” the release reads.Â
A similar situation happened in Austin 2024 when a $2 million Powerball ticket was set to expire on October 7, 2024. Luckily that winner was able to claim their prize 12 days before their ticket was set to expire. We’ll see if the Brownsville winner has the same luck.
