Roy told 3NEWS he plans to step away from politics to focus on his family and business ventures, saying the decision comes after missing important family moments—not from any single issue.

Roy currently represents District 1 on the council, a seat he has held since taking office in 2023.
He is not the only council member leaving. Councilmembers Gil Hernandez and Roland Barrera are both term-limited and will also not appear on the ballot.
The changes come as Corpus Christi prepares for the November 2026 local elections, where voters could see entirely new City Council next year.
