CANYON, Texas – The #5 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M opened their Oklahoma road trip with a Lone Star Conference doubleheader split with the Cameron Aggies on Thursday night at McMahon Field in Lawton.
 
The Lady Buffs look to rebound on Saturday afternoon as they take on the #12 Oklahoma Christian Eagles in a doubleheader beginning at Noon in Edmond.
 
Game 1 – West Texas A&M 8, Cameron 2
Abby Howell put the Lady Buffs on the board in the top of the first inning as Abby Howell singled to left center to score Bella Holland and Jordyn De Los Santos for the 2-0 lead. Cameron used the long ball to cut into the lead in the second with a Kyndel McDaniel solo shot to left field.
 
The Lady Buffs responded in the top of the third as Cadence Colborn doubled to the gap in right center with two outs to drive in De Los Santos and Howell followed by a Brooke Janning single to center that plated Colborn at 5-1.
 
The Aggies cut into the lead again in the home half of the sixth on a Rylee Ross RBI single to center that scored Brynn Webber before WT matched the scoring in the top of the seventh on a Colborn base hit to center that scored De Los Santos at 8-2.
 
Brooke Janning earned the win (15-2) for the Lady Buffs, allowing two earned runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in the complete game victory.
 
Game 2 – Cameron 2, West Texas A&M 1
The Lady Buffs pushed across the first run of the nightcap in the top of the third inning on a De Los Santos RBI double down the left field line with two outs to score Holland for the 1-0 advantage. Cameron would tie up the game in the home half of the fourth as Payton Dickerson scored from third on a passed ball at 1-1.
 
The Aggies took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on a Webber single to center to score Anslie Roach at 2-1. WT wouldn’t go down without a fight as they advanced a runner to third with two outs in the top of the seventh before a grounder ended the game, 2-1.
 
Laci Peskey claimed the loss (15-4) in the circle, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts in the complete game defeat.
