Eateries across the Lone Star State are holding their breath tonight as the Michelin Guide — a prestigious restaurant resource for travelers — returns to Texas for its second year. Chefs from Austin to Houston will find out whether their restaurants earned, retained or lost Michelin stars — or scored other coveted distinctions such as the Bib Gourmand or Green star.
The 2025 Michelin Guide Texas awards ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston. Attendance is by invitation only, but food lovers can watch the event via livestream on YouTube through the Michelin Guide’s official channel.
Austin led the state during last year’s inaugural Texas Guide ceremony. The Texas capital earned seven of the 15 Michelin Stars awarded statewide. Houston followed with six. Across Texas, a total of 117 restaurants received recognition, spanning from Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands, Green Stars and recommended restaurants. The recognition solidified Austin’s reputation as a culinary powerhouse, home to chefs and restaurants that embody creativity and innovation rooted in local flavor.
Founded by French tire manufacturers André and Édouard Michelin in 1889, the Michelin Guide began as a way to encourage road travel — and tire sales. Over the decades, it evolved into a global culinary authority, synonymous with excellence and precision.
