One dead after crash involving pedestrian in southeast Austin; roads closed near scene

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian in southeast Austin.

APD said the crash happened at around 6:28 a.m. Friday morning in the 2100 block of the East Ben White Boulevard service road on the eastbound side near Woodward street.

Police said that CPR was in progress at the scene just before 7 a.m.

The eastbound frontage road of Ben White Boulevard from Woodward Street is closed, police say, though the freeway remains open.

APD says that all eastbound frontage road traffic is being redirected northbound onto Woodward Street. Drivers are asked to plan accordingly.

A CBS Austin crew is on the way to the scene.
