LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Covenant Children’s hosted its annual Blue Ribbon Tying event on Friday morning.
The yearly event is hosted in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month. At the event, victims of child abuse in the Lubbock community were honored.
The goal is to help raise awareness and promote education about child abuse in the South Plains.
According to Covenant Health, there were 2,295 counts of child abuse or neglect in Lubbock County last year. Out of those, 758 were confirmed victims.
In 2025, there were three deaths related to child abuse in the Lubbock region, according to the hospital, with two of those being kids under the age of five in Lubbock County.
Neglectful Supervision passed physical abuse and sexual abuse as the most reported type of abuse in the county.
