SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The Mudbugs defeat Corpus Christi, 7-2, in Game One of the North American Hockey League South Division play-in series.
Forward Duke Ehrhard finished with a hat-trick, scoring his third and final goal of the night at 11:03 mark in the second period.
Grayson Gerhard got the night started off for Shreveport. His 54th point of the season gave the ‘Bugs a 1-0 lead at the 18:47 mark in the first period.
The team never looked back.
Entering this series, both teams are atop the division in Penalty in Minutes (PIM). The Ice Rays have 1,435 and the Mudbugs have 1,420.
Friday night, Corpus Christi ended with 16 penalty minutes, while the Bugs had 8. Up to 12 different players were cited for penalties during the game.
Shreveport and Corpus Christi return to the ice on Saturday at 7:11, and if necessary, Sunday at 7:11.
