AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead, and multiple others were injured in a shooting outside an East Austin cocktail bar Friday night, according to the Austin Police Department.
Officers responded around 8:40 p.m. to a disturbance call at the Cabana Club, located at 5012 E. 7th St. Police said an altercation broke out and escalated to gunfire in the back of the bar between a group of people.

Officers arrived within minutes and found an adult man with obvious signs of trauma to his body. Life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m.
Police said multiple other individuals involved in the incident were injured and transported themselves to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Austin police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene, which remains active as the investigation continues.
Officials said no weapon has been recovered and no arrests have been made.
Most of the people involved had already left the area before officers arrived, police said. The bar has since been shut down as investigators work to gather information.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“I would like to extend our condolences to the victim’s family at this time,” APD Public Information Officer Aaron Townsend said during a media briefing. “We’re doing our very best to find out who’s responsible for this.”
The case is being investigated as Austin’s 20th homicide of the year.
