East Texas Giving Day is coming up April 25 and this charitable giving event is a critical part of this region’s economy and business success.
East Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour day of giving that provides critical funding for our area nonprofits. The purpose of an area-wide Giving Day is to bring the region together on one day and as one community, raising money and awareness for East Texas nonprofits.
Information shared by Elsa Selleck of Selleck Accounting & Finance sheds light on the impact of non-profit organizations:
“Nonprofit organizations contribute roughly $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy annually, accounting for over 5% of the national GDP. The nonprofit sector employs 12.8 million people, making it the third largest employment category in the U.S., ahead of the entire manufacturing industry.
The nonprofit sector provides essential services to our City of Stars. A few examples are:
– food bank services – Helping Hands, Executive Director Ursula Plaisance
– housing services Fuller Center for Housing, Executive Director David Hampton
– outpatient rehabilitation services East Texas Treatment Center, Executive Director Terri Hardan”
Additional Kilgore non-profit organizations you can support this East Texas Giving Day include East Texas Oil Museum, Kilgore College Rangerettes Forever Foundation, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Friends of the Kilgore Public Library, East Texas Treatment Center, and many more.
