OVERVIEW:
Saturday: We’re tracking rain for a select few, but not all, as more than 300,000 are expected to attend the Houston Art Car Parade.
Sunday: A low but real severe weather threat for areas west of I-45.
Let’s plan your weekend together:Saturday
Houston Art Car Parade: Bring the Parade to the People from 11 am to 2 pm today. According to their website more than 315,000 people are expected to enjoy the free event today!
But first, what exactly is an art car?!
Art Car: A vehicle whose owner has modified its appearance in a way to suit their own aesthetic, personality, or creative inspiration.

So if you’re inspired by cars, creativity and innovation — according to neuroscience — it can be healing, requiring your brain to engage in neuroplasticity.
(Neuroplasticity means reshaping and rewiring connections based on what you do, think or experience.) Creative arts can “foster neural adaptability” (Barnett et al., 2024, Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience).
Weather & Traffic Together: So here is what you need to know to plan your Saturday.
Weather: We’re tracking a slight chance for rain for a select few but not all areas on the west side and up to the north this afternoon into the evening with wind gusts picking up to 20 mph as we get into the afternoon with a high of 80.

Rain totals less than .10”.
So I say – rain for a select few, but not all.
NWS defines “isolated” as meaning only small, scattered pockets of the area see rain — most will remain dry.
