SAN ANTONIO – Curaçao international Eloy Room recorded a three-save shutout as Miami FC played to a 0-0 draw against San Antonio FC at Toyota Field despite the visitors playing down to 10 men for the final 18 minutes after Mason Tunbridge was sent off for Miami.
Both sides had chances in the opening half with Miami’s Alessandro Milesi shooting just wide of the left post inside the opening two minutes as the visitors tried to strike quickly. San Antonio’s Alex Crognale then went close in the 44th minute with a header off a free kick by Jorge Hernandez that was well saved by Room.
Room’s Curaçao teammate Jurgen Locadia almost put Miami ahead on the hour-mark as he rattled the left post with a first-time shot from the edge of the penalty area, but with just under 20 minutes to go Tunbridge was dismissed after clipping SAFC goalkeeper Joey Batrouni’s head after the goalkeeper had slid to claim possession in the penalty area. Tiago Suarez went close to grabbing a late winner for SAFC with the player advantage, but Miami held firm to earn a third consecutive result at Toyota Field.
