Just rain in San Antonio, but storms are ongoing in the Hill Country

  • April 12, 2026

WATCH LIVE RADAR IN VIDEO ABOVEFORECAST HIGHLIGHTS

As expected, the rain this weekend has been “come-and-go” with some areas seeing flooding near Del Rio. It has not been a wash out, and Sunday’s forecast is similar. You have a *chance* for rain, but it is not guaranteed. Here’s what you need to know:

OVERNIGHT: Just rain in San Antonio, some storms in the Hill Country

SUNDAY MORNING: A damp start, but rain should pause by 10 am

SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Additional storms possible, but again — NOT A WASH OUT (40%)

SEVERE? It’s a small possibility Sunday afternoon, so we’ll be watching closely

FORECAST

HILL COUNTRY: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for some until 8 AM. The main threat is damaging wind and heavy downpours. But as of 3 AM, these storms are weakening and the severe threat is declining. Still, stay weather‑aware overnight and keep alerts enabled.

SAN ANTONIO: We’re just seeing showers and damp roads around San Antonio. I expect this to continue through sunrise Sunday.

SUNDAY

Sunday’s forecast for San Antonio (Copyright 2026 by KSAT – All rights reserved.)

We’ll likely see a pause in rain from about 10 a.m. to the early afternoon. But we’re not out of the woods just yet.

We’ll maintain a 40% chance for storms through the afternoon and evening, especially if clouds break enough for additional heating. Any storms that redevelop could again produce hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. BUT AGAIN, A 40% CHANCE IS NOT A WASH OUT OR A GUARANTEE FOR RAIN. Rather, you should stay weather aware if you have any Sunday afternoon plans outdoors.

Otherwise, it will stay warm and muggy, with highs near 80 degrees.

RAINFALL (SO FAR)

Heaviest totals have been across the Edwards Plateau. (Copyright 2026 by KSAT – All rights reserved.)

In Val Verde and Edwards Counties, 1″ to 3″ of rain has fallen, with considerably less south and east.

NEXT WEEK

Much less active next week, but we do have a chance for a storm or two Wednesday. Then, quiet and near 90° as Fiesta begins. For the first weekend of Fiesta, we’ll have a small chance for rain Saturday as a cold front moves through, making for a cooler, pleasant Sunday.
