EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning that left a 55-year-old man dead has prompted an extended road closure as investigators work at the scene.

Officers with the Anthony Police Department responded at about 9:37 a.m. Saturday, April 11, to the intersection of FM 1905 and Wildcat Drive for a reported motor vehicle accident. When they arrived, they found a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in the man’s death.

The scene was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators, who handle traffic fatality investigations.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation found that a black Tesla was traveling eastbound, approaching the intersection of Wildcast Drive. At the same time, a white Ford passenger vehicle was driving westbound and attempted to make a left turn onto Wildcat Drive. The Ford failed to yield the right-of-way and collided with the Tesla.

The collision of the two vehicles caused them to strike two more vehicles at the intersection as a result.

Driving the white Ford was 55-year-old Oscar Garcia. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries

The intersection of Antonio Street and Wildcat Drive will remain closed for an extended period while the investigation continues. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
