Police said the man and his group rammed the suspect’s truck to stop him from leaving.
HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after a man was shot at a large trail ride gathering early Sunday morning in southwest Houston, police say.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. at an event on South Post Oak near Sims Bayou.
As people were leaving, a man reportedly saw his trailer attached to another person’s truck and believed that person was trying to steal it, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said the man alerted his family and friends, who started to follow the truck and try to stop it.
“It appears that they did ram the suspect’s truck in order to get him to stop,” said HPD Lt. Khan. “The suspect then got out of his vehicle and started shooting at the complainant.”
The man was rushed to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
The suspect took off before officers got to the scene.
