HOUSTON — LyondellBasell imploded two structures at its southeast Houston Refinery Saturday morning.

The company said the 350-feet-tall coker units have been inactive since it ended refining activities at the site in early 2025. 

“This is the final step in the demolition of the coker units that began last year,” LyondellBasell said in a news release.

The demolition job was contracted to GSD Companies, who LyondellBasell said has experience in large industrial dismantling.

“Extensive planning, engineering assessments, and regulatory reviews have guided the work to ensure safety and limit impacts to neighboring communities,” LyondellBasell said.
