Plano East had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-14-2 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Plano Wildcats 8-6. That’s the second time they’ve managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in March.

Savannah Leonard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leonard was also solid in the batter’s box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Hopper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emerson Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Plano East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Plano, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost three of their last four matchups. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 14-12-1 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that’s the closest loss they have suffered since February 14, 2025.

On Plano’s side, Cadence Charland was cooking despite her team’s loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Charland is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she’s now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she’s played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Zhang, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Plano East will square off against McKinney at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
