LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – On Friday, the Big 12 Conference announced changes to the upcoming football season including two updates to Texas Tech’s schedule.
The Red Raiders will host the Houston Cougars on Friday, Sept. 18 at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Texas Tech will then host TCU for a Thanksgiving Day game on Nov. 26. This will be the first time since 2015 that the Red Raiders will play on Thanksgiving.
The league’s biggest brand is in demand.

According to Texas Tech Athletics, the Red Raiders haven’t hosted a Thanksgiving game in Lubbock since 1937.
The Red Raiders will host seven games in Lubbock in 2026. Visiting Raiderland will be Abilene Christian on Sept. 5, Sam Houston State on Sept. 26, Arizona State on Oct. 17, Arizona on Halloween and West Virginia on Nov. 7.
