COLLEGE STATION — After waiting more than eight and a half hours, Texas A&M baseball‘s series finale Sunday vs. Texas was officially canceled.

Sunday’s cancellation is the first in the SEC in over two years, with an LSU vs. South Carolina game in 2023 being called after two innings the last time.

A&M took the first two games of the series and was looking for its first sweep over Texas since 1991.

Instead, the Aggies will now turn their attention to Houston, where A&M will host the Cougars at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Longhorns will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Final updates from the delay and eventual cancellation:

If more than seven hours of waiting isn’t enough, the game has been pushed again, this time to 9:30 p.m. The game cannot start after 10 p.m., so the wiggle room, if another delay were needed, is razor-thin.

More severe weather in the area has caused another delay. The new start time is 8:15 p.m.

First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.

Game 3 is officially under a weather delay, and that’s all that’s currently known, as no new start time has been announced.
