AUSTIN, Texas — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground delay at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Monday night due to staffing issues with air traffic controllers. The airport was expecting more than 38,000 passengers to pass through the terminal following the end of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. The ground delay was lifted around 9 p.m.

In a statement to CBS Austin, the FAA said a lapse in funding from the government shutdown caused the staffing issues. Currently, air traffic controllers and several other government positions are being required to work without pay. As the shutdown enters its third week, lawmakers are still at a standstill on a short-term funding bill.
