The woman, who has not been identified, was discovered after hikers on a city trail noticed something on fire around 9 a.m. in the 7500 block of Prue Road, not far from the Leon Creek Greenway, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). As the hikers approached, they saw the woman on fire and called the authorities.
The San Antonio Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire shortly after. Authorities then pronounced the woman dead at the scene, according to SAPD.
On Monday, April 13, SAPD told MySA the case has been ruled as a suicide. Police said investigators have not found any “criminal element” as of Monday. On the day of the incident, police did note that officers did not find any “criminal element,” but had not revealed if the fire was self-inflicted or due to foul play.
Authorities said the details are preliminary information and the case remains an ongoing investigation.
