ARLINGTON, Texas — The City of Arlington is paying tribute to its 911 operators and dispatchers as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, recognizing their vital role in saving lives.
Arlington, along with communities across the United States, will observe this special week from April 12-18, 2026, dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators. “I do the work I do to serve the Arlington community because everyone needs support at some point,” said Tameika Wallace, who has been with Dispatch Services for nine years. Kyanna Hemphill, a dispatcher for three years, added, “Being that steady and calm voice on the other end of the call for someone in need means everything to me.”
Brandon Cooper, who has served in Dispatch Services for seven years, shared, “Serving the Arlington community gives me the chance to give back and make a real difference when people need it most.” Over the years, various City of Arlington departments, local organizations, and businesses have participated in this celebration, offering support through cards, gift baskets, and food, according to the Office of Communication.
This year, the tradition continues with the collaboration of City of Arlington Departments, associations, local businesses, and the Tarrant County 911 District. The community is encouraged to join in expressing gratitude to these “heroes under the headset,” stated the source.
