LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Fire Rescue said a 16-year-old boy turned himself in to his lawyer on Monday morning and was taken into custody on Monday morning.
LFR said the juvenile was taken to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center without incident and is charged with arson, which is a first-degree felony.
Lubbock Fire Rescue received a 911 call at approximately 4 p.m. last week reporting a fire that had started next to an apartment building and was rapidly spreading toward nearby structures.
First-arriving units encountered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the apartment complex.
Fire crews contained and extinguished the fire before it could extend into the apartment building. The fire was contained to a patch of grass and a fence line, preventing further damage to the structure and surrounding residences.
