EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of his father, an El Paso businessman, last week in San Antonio, according to the affidavit obtained by KTSM.
Daniel Sebastian Ordonez is facing a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence – fail to report human remains.

In a Facebook post, the Greater El Paso Association of REALTORS sent their condolences to the family of Daniel Antonio Ordonez, the father of Daniel Sebastian Ordonez. In the post, it was said that he was a dedicated realtor in the area.

The father was reported missing by immediate family members, who do not live in San Antonio. The family members, who have access to the victim’s phone and smart watch, displayed “strange activity,” according to court documents. Officers with the San Antonio Police Department were dispatched to where the phone was, at 315 W. Theo Ave.
It was noted in the affidavit that the property had two homes at 315 Theo Ave. The main home was unoccupied and currently under renovation. The other home, located at the back of the property, was occupied by a family member renting the space.
The father’s phone and keys were buried in a plant pot in fresh soil. Additionally, one of Daniel Antonio Ordonez’s vehicles was found in the back of the property with “an apparent bullet hole on the driver’s side rear window,” read court documents.
The son, Daniel Sebastian Ordonez, arrived at the Theo property with his wife. Police received consent from Daniel Sebastian Ordonez to search his home at 3108 Vera Cruz.
Once at the residence, officers located a large black trash bag at the back of the son’s property, “with apparent blood leaking from the bag,” according to the affidavit.
Evidence at the scene showed apparent drag marks on the ground near the body. Police made a small hole in the bag to check what was inside, and found a dead man, positively identifying the man to be Daniel Antonio Ordonez.
Daniel Sebastian Ordonez and his wife were detained for questioning and a search warrant was obtained for the home.
A device used to detect blood, showed that blood had been cleaned at the scene.
A blood trail was found from the drag marks near the bloody trash bag to the rear wheel well of a truck parked at the Vera Cruz residence. Blood was also found in the laundry room, near the rear entrance of the home. The presence of blood was located on the washer, dryer and a trash can.
Furthermore, the device revealed the presence of blood in the hallway from the rear entrance to the singular bathroom and kitchen.
This indicated to investigators that blood had been cleaned inside and outside the house, according to the affidavit.
Police noted that there were surveillance camera mounts at the back of the home, but no cameras were seen.
The father’s Jeep, the most used vehicle, was parked one block south of the home, in front of an unoccupied home. A truck, which was mainly used for work, was also at the home. Both vehicles were noted to have been removed from the Theo property.
During questioning, both Daniel Sebastian Ordonez and his wife stated that the two of them, including the father, were at the Vera Cruz property all weekend long. The wife denied involvement in the incident and “claimed not to konw what happened,” read court documents.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause and manner of Daniel Antonio Ordonez’s death to be a gunshot wound to the head due to homicide.
Though Daniel Antonio Ordonez was shot, there was no ballistic evidence recovered at the Vera Cruz property.
Officers obtained access to the father’s phone. The family did claim that Daniel Antonio Ordonez did not share his banking information with anyone and no one else had permission to use his accounts.
Police saw surveillance footage of Daniel Sebastian Ordonez purchasing towels, black duct tape and a “mummy” style sleeping bag with his father’s debit card shortly before 6 p.m. on April 4.
Later, surveillance footage at Home Depot showed that the son purchased gloves, a shovel, a sledgehammer, two clear acrylic sheets, a plastic sheet scoring tool, CLR cleaner, a trowel and two 50-pound bags of concrete mix. Officers confirmed these items were found at the Vera Cruz residence, according to the affidavit.
“(Police) believes (Daniel Sebastian Ordonez) concealed, altered, and destroyed evidence of the murder of (Daniel Antonio Ordonez). Additionally, (Daniel Sebastian Ordonez) did not report (Daniel Antonio Ordonez)’s death to law enforcement.” read part of the documents.
Police are still investigating the murder and no arrests have been made.
