Kate Weiser Chocolate, a Dallas company that sold splatter-painted bon bons and candy bars, is ceasing operations.
Owner and founder Kate Weiser started selling chocolates from West Dallas’ Trinity Groves development in 2014. Her dessert shop became one of the neighborhood’s long-term success stories in a competitive restaurant climate.
Kate Weiser Chocolate expanded from West Dallas to NorthPark Center, Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth and beyond. It saw bursts of business around holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. But, according to a post from Weiser on her company’s Instagram, the “highly-seasonal, labor-intensive” nature of the business required a “heavy financial lift to continue operating.”
It’s terrible news for chocolate lovers; Weiser and her team made some of the most beautiful desserts in Dallas. The shop balanced the predictable chocolate recipes — like chocolate caramels and raspberry pâte de fruit bon bons — with rarer combinations, like mango-habanero and lavender-apricot.

When her company’s edible peppermint snowman was featured in Oprah’s Favorite Things in 2025, Weiser told The Dallas Morning News the accolade in Oprah Daily “feels amazing,” she said, because “we’ve had a tough couple of years.” At the time, the Texas Restaurant Association had warned consumers that small businesses across the state would face a tough year.
Weiser didn’t respond to an immediate request for comment about the business closure.

“While this is not the outcome I hoped for,” Weiser wrote on Instagram, “I am deeply proud of what we created and incredibly grateful for the lessons, relationships and experiences that came with it. Those lessons are priceless.”
She alluded to “building something memorable again in the future” but didn’t give details. Those with a sweet tooth should hope it involves chocolate.
Are any Kate Weiser chocolates left in Dallas-Fort Worth?
Kate Weiser Chocolate has two storefronts, in Trinity Groves and at NorthPark mall, both in Dallas. Those “will remain open until our last chocolate is sold,” Weiser wrote on Instagram.
The Kate Weiser website will take orders online until April 15, 2026.

Weiser also wrote on Instagram that Carl the Snowman will live on for at least one more holiday season. This snowman-shaped treat is made with a chocolate exterior and cocoa powder and marshmallows hiding inside. When customers melt it in milk on the stovetop, Carl makes a pot of cocoa, great for cold-weather get-togethers or treats for kids.
Carl will be sold at Central Market once more, in late 2026, Weiser wrote online.
