(WFSB) – Azzi Fudd was drafted first overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
She joins former UConn teammate Paige Bueckers in the Lone Star state.
Fudd was a star for the Huskies last season, averaging 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
She was one of the key pieces in a UConn team that advanced to the Final Four before losing to South Carolina.
Fudd is the seventh UConn player to be taken first overall in the WNBA Draft. She joins Sue Bird (2002), Diana Taurasi (2004), Tina Charles (2010), Maya Moore (2011), Breanna Stewart (2016) and Bueckers (2025).
Serah Williams was also selected with the 33rd overall pick by the Connecticut Sun. She racked up a list of accomplishments during her time with the Wisconsin Badgers, including the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Dallas Wings kick off their season against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 9th. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m.
